Madame Koska and the Imperial Brooch edition by ILIL ARBEL Romance eBooks

Ilil Arbel demonstrates her superb gift for writing in Madame Koska and the Imperial Brooch. The book is filled with rich and lively detail, giving the sense of actually seeing the characters and places she describes. Madame Koska lived in a historically and culturally rich time, and I enjoyed the beauty of Arbel's words in describing it.

Early in the book Arbel sets the stage for the "reader joy ride" that will follow. While I would not normally read a book about a dress designer, something about Madame Koska kept me turning the pages. I found the book surprising, intriguing, and full of sharp twists and turns.

At times, especially in the middle and latter parts of the book, I found my pulse quickening and my breathing halted. I suspected everyone around Madame Koska at times, and I remained in suspense until the end. The book was as vivid as a movie, and I kept replaying it in my head for several days after I finished it.

I read this book several months ago, and sitting down now to write this review brought back to mind how much I enjoyed Madame Koska and the Imperial Brooch. At first I thought it was mainly a "women's book," but I got hooked and I highly recommend it to macho readers as well. My voice didn't change one bit.

Ilil Arbel, through Madame Koska, broadened my horizons. For that I am grateful.

Madame Koska and the Imperial Brooch edition by ILIL ARBEL Romance eBooks Reviews

A very good book that made me want to keep reading to the end! Never dull or boring, and it was fun reading it too.
I liked the way the author wrote. I am waiting for another book by her. It was very original and enjoyable to read
I really enjoyed this short novel that seems to me to be an homage to the Golden Age of mysteries. Characterizations were nearly perfect, credible & likeable! The storyline moved along at a nice pace, neither too quickly nor too slowly. The ending was satisfactory. In fact, Madame Koska would make a wonderful protagonist for a series.
Having a fondness for mysteries set in this era, I thoroughly enjoyed the well-drawn characters and sense of fashion explored in author Arbel's charming book. In my estimation, the author also deserves sustained applause for a typo-free text.
I didn't expect much when I ordered this book, but I thought it would be worth trying. I was pleasantly surprised that the whole idea worked quite well. Mme Koska written by Mrs. Morland written by Lili Arbel (whose name itself sounds like something Thirkell would invent--even better than Lisa Bedale). The story was intriguing and the twist to the solution consistent with mystery novels of the period. I'm looking forward to reading more.
A London dressmaker tries to open a new atelier amid break-ins and assistants with complex pasts.

I picked up this book free during an giveaway. Apparently the main character is from a Trollope novel, which I have not read. On its own, it was somewhat interesting but not compelling, and the reader is not given reasons to suspect what Madame Koska and her friends will discover.
Madame Koska and the Imperial Brooch is not a difficult mystery to solve. I figured out all the secret identities & criminal trespasses and answered all the whodunnits early in the book BUT it was so much fun! It's charming, sweet and full of fabulous clothes. I adored Madame Koska and I recommend that readers of cozy mysteries make an appointment to spend an evening in her company. The descriptions of the clothes and the atelier are priceless. I can see this as the start of a lovely series.

I'm sending it right now to a cozy/historical mystery fan!
